European Platform for Patients' Organisations, Science and Industry (EPPOSI)

The European platform for patients' organisations, science and industry (EPPOSI) working on health care policies towards treatment and prevention of serious diseases.

It is EPPOSI's primary mission to ensure that patient needs and views are central in the European health care debate and as such, they have a controlling say in the agenda setting and priorities for the Platform.

EPPOSI is issue led and aims to provide agreed strategies on European policy matters that can be endorsed by patients, scientists, the medical community and industry.

European Organisation for Rare Disorders (EURORDIS)

The European Organisation for Rare Disorders (EURORDIS) is an alliance of patients associations dedicated to improving the quality of life of all people associated with rare diseases in Europe.

Their mission is to promote rare disorders and to develop access to new therapies.

Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME)

The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) is the international umbrella organisation of the National Medical Associations in the Countries of the European Union/European Economic Area.

The aim of CPME is to promote the highest standards of medical training and medical practice. CPME is particularly concerned to promote the relationship between patients and doctors and also works to promote the free movement of doctors within the European Union.

European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS)
The aim of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is the harmonization and improvement of the quality of medical specialist practice in the European Union (EU). Education is a key element in this field and the UEMS has been pursuing the formulation of a common policy in the field of training for many years.

European Society of Cardiology (ESC)
The goals of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) were clearly defined in the original statutes: "to foster the development of cardiology, to further scientific exchanges, to encourage personal contacts and to establish standards of training for cardiologists and those who work in the field of cardiovascular disease."

The European Society of Cardiology has now broadened its goals and is "dedicated to improving the quality of life of the European population by reducing the impact of cardiovascular disease".

Nurses

Standing Committee of Nurses (PCN)
The Standing Committee of Nurses (PCN) of the EU, representing more than 750,000 European nurses, shall strenghten the status and practice of the profession of nursing and the interests of nurses in the EU and Europe.

Their objectives are to ensure that nurses and nursing is central to the development of Social and Health Policy and its implementation in the EU and Europe; to support and facilitate a qualitative and equitable health service in the EU and Europe by a strategic contribution to the development of a sufficient effective, competent and motivated workforce of nurses; and to strengthen PCN representation in the EU and Europe and develop PCN key role as bridge between NNA and decision-makers in the EU institutions.

Standing Committee of the Hospitals of the European Union (HOPE)
The Standing Committee of the Hospitals of the European Union (HOPE) is a non-governmental European Association, which was created in 1966.

The Committee includes national hospital associations or representatives from the national health systems of the 15 Member States of the European Union, plus Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Malta, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland as observer members.

The Constitution of 1995 states that it is the Standing Committee's mission to promote, as an NGO, improvements in the health of citizens throughout the countries of the EU and a uniformly high standard of hospital care throughout the EU and to foster efficiency, effectiveness and humanity in the organization and operation of hospital services and of the health systems within which they function.

European Association of Hospital Managers (EAHM)

The European Association of Hospital Managers is an EU umbrella association of 26 national associations. It represents more than 22 000 individuals through their membership in their national hospital managers associations.

Their objectives are to inform their members, to promote best practice, to facilitate access to EU institutions and co-operation with other associations, to assist hospital directors in their management tasks through the organisation of regular congresses, scientific committees, and through their publication. They also lobby for the concerns of hospitals at EU level.

EUROM VI

The European Federation of Precision Mechanics and Optical Industries was founded in 1960.

European Biosafety Association (EBSA)

EBSA aims to provide a forum for its members to discuss and debate issues of concern and to represent those working in the field of biosafety and associated activities. European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA)

EDTNA/ERCA was established in 1971 to address the special needs of nurses and other professionals that treat patients suffering from renal failure. Since then, the Association has become the most important forum in Europe for the exchange of information and experience from all members of the renal care team who treat patients suffering from renal failure.

The Association currently has more than 5000 members in more than 66 countries worldwide. Their goals are to achieve a high level of quality care and support for patients and their families; to develop and continually update standards for renal care; to promote the advancement of renal care through education and continuous professional development; to initiate, promote and conduct research in renal care and disseminate the results, ....

European Institute of Medicine (EOM)

The EOM was founded in 2001 by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in order to examine political factors pertaining to public health in Europe. European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG)
